Jessica de Rooij is an award-winning film composer who has written music for approximately 50 feature films and series, including the Netflix hit BLOOD & GOLD, the event series SISI, the acclaimed documentary FORGET ME NOT, as well as popular TATORT episodes and TV movies.

The daughter of a jazz bandleader and a singer, Jessica began playing piano at four and composed her first pieces a few years later in her father’s studio. As a teenager, she performed for large audiences and, with a record deal in hand, seemed headed for a career as a performer.

However, inspired by the soundscapes of cinema, she chose to study Music & Technology: Composition for Media in the Netherlands. From there, her journey led to Los Angeles, where she worked as a ghostwriter for Hollywood composers, refining her compositional skills and sense of dramaturgy. Her breakthrough came with the big-budget fantasy film IN THE NAME OF THE KING, where she showcased her talent for memorable themes.

Known for her musical versatility and stylistic range, Jessica has composed for a wide variety of genres.
Recently, she has been blending electronic influences with classical and vocal elements— a combination that drew international attention with her score for SISI, which was nominated for the German Television Award in 2023.
