Jessica de Rooij is an award-winning film composer and producer with an impressive career spanning over 50 feature films and series. Known for her distinctive sound and versatility, Jessica has contributed her musical talents to high-profile projects including Netflix’s Blood & Gold, the event series Sisi, the acclaimed theatrical documentary Vergiss Mein Nicht, and numerous episodes of Tatort, among many TV movies.

Born into a musical family—her father a jazz bandleader and her mother a singer—Jessica’s musical journey began early. She started playing the piano in kindergarten and composed her first original pieces at just nine years old, working in her father’s recording studio. Although she initially pursued a career as a performing artist, in front of large audiences with a record deal, her deep love for the emotional storytelling and soundscapes of cinema led her to study Music & Technology: Composition for Media in the Netherlands.

After relocating to Los Angeles, Jessica honed her skills further, working as a ghostwriter for renowned Hollywood composers, where she sharpened her sense for dramaturgy and orchestration. Her breakthrough came in 2006 with the big-budget fantasy film In the Name of the King, where she demonstrated her talent for writing sweeping, memorable themes for large orchestra and choir.
Jessica’s music is characterized by its remarkable versatility and stylistic breadth. She is known for seamlessly blending electronic influences with classical and vocal elements, as demonstrated in her celebrated score for Sisi. Her work has garnered recognition across the globe, with nominations including the 2023 German Television Award and the 2025 German Music Authors' Award.

Currently, Jessica is working on the premium series Mozart/Mozart, continuing to push creative boundaries while solidifying her place as one of the most dynamic voices in film and television music composition.
